- Short resume: Martin Swaans received his degree in medicine from the University of Maastricht in 2005. - What has inspired you? I am fascinated by the physiological adaptations the heart and vascular system undergo in response to the demands of exercise and as a cardiologist, it is important to distinguish those physiologic changes from pathology.
